A fun widget on WineAnswers.com

Technology is a wonderful thing for wine consumers! The site WineAnswers.com released a new widget on its web site. By selecting a wine, food or sauce, this widget makes wine pairing easy with three different ways to get pairing advice. It’s very easy and user-friendly. Bloggers or consumer-oriented sites can download it and install it for their visitors to use.

WineAnswers.com is the consumer web site launched in 2001 by the Wine Market Council. The Wine Market Council is an American non-profit organization whose “mission is to establish the widespread acceptance of wine as a rewarding part of American culture and to encourage the responsible enjoyment of wine by current and future generations of adults in the United States.” It targets the marginal drinkers (who drink less than once a week) “with the goal of shifting their attitudes toward wine so that wine can become for them a more common, casual, everyday enjoyment.”

The Council takes many initiatives every year to reach its goals, one of them being the WineAnswers.com site. The site is a very good tool for beginners or aficionados as well. I especially enjoyed the “Wine Express” pairing tool with the “Frozen Entrée Food Matcher” and the “On the Go Eating Matcher”. Why deprive yourself of your favorite beverage just because you’re in a hurry?

The site also displays an interactive tool allowing the visitor to share information about a wine or a place or to invite a friend to join you in a place to enjoy a glass of wine in your favorite place.

Fun, interactive, friendly – this site is a gem and I can’t recommend it enough!
