More on the French Absurdity

in General

At the exact time a law endangering the French wine trade is being discussed, a new body will be introduced in France: the Committee of… Wine Travel. This committee has for mission to promote our wine regions to domestic and foreign tourists. I’m sure everybody will enjoy visiting a winery or a wine region without being able to taste or buy the local wines!

Tonight during our New Wine Consumer Internet live radio show, we’ll discuss the threat on the wine industry. Join us to share your opinion on this new French absurdity!

Evelyne, I was just emailing a friend about this yesterday – I told him I thought it was ironic that a top story on Meininger’s last week was the Ministry of Health in France dissuading the French from drinking wine and then the top story this week was France’s concern over the drop in consumption of French wine with a desire to develop wine tourism. Quite a confusing and confounding message!

Unfortunately, France is the champion of contradictory messages. It is very confusing for the wine drinker to figure out what’s good or bad. Let’s hope French people have enough common sense to figure out that a multi secular tradition can’t really be so bad for one’s health. After all French people are not extinct!
