Unfortunately, France is the champion of contradictory messages. It is very confusing for the wine drinker to figure out what's good or bad. Let's hope French people have enough common sense to figure out that a multi secular tradition can't really be so bad for one's health.
Evelyne, I was just emailing a friend about this yesterday - I told him I thought it was ironic that a top story on Meininger's last week was the Ministry of Health in France dissuading the French from drinking wine and then the top story this week was France's concern over the drop in consumption of French wine with a desire to develop wine tourism. Quite a confusing and confounding message!
